Be A Host Family

On August 13, 2006 more than 600 families will extend a warm welcome to the 1,200 visiting JCC Maccabi athletes who will arrive in Vancouver from across North America and around the world. All visiting teen athletes are provided with home hospitality during the course of the Games. Being a host family is a wonderful way to be part of the JCC Maccabi Games. Many past JCC Maccabi athletes have developed lasting friendships with their host families. The entire community is needed to make the Games a success. Become a host family!

Requirements of Host Families
Part of the JCC Maccabi experience involves sharing your home with visiting athletes. Housing visiting athletes is an exciting and rewarding experience for you and your family. The following is a general description of the responsibilities of host families:

• Host at least two visiting athletes from Sunday, August 13 through the morning of Friday, August 18, 2006.
  
  
• Attend one Host Family Orientation prior to the Games. (Several orientation sessions will be offered).
  
  
• Pick up athletes on Sunday, August 13 at a centralized location, provide dinner and take athletes to Opening Ceremonies. Host families are obligated to attend as well. Host families also bring athletes home from Opening Ceremonies.
  
  
• Provide nutritious breakfast daily as well as some dinners and snacks.
  
  
• Provide transportation each day to and from a centralized transportation site. Drop off may be as early as 7 a.m. and pick up at the end of evening activities is approximately 10 p.m.
  
  
• Provide reasonable sleeping accommodations for each athlete (beds, sofa-beds, cots and air mattresses are suitable). The JCC can provide air mattresses if needed.
  
  
• Provide laundry facilities so athletes may wash uniforms daily.
  
  
• Participate in Host Family Night - Monday August 14.
  
  
• Provide suitable adult supervision during any unstructured time periods when athletes are in your care.
